Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, has revealed that his administration will soon begin the renovation of district heads’ palaces across the state.
This was contained in a press statement issued by the Director of Media and Publicity, Government House Sokoto, Malam Abubakar Bawa.
The Governor disclosed this while receiving His Eminence, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, during the Sallah homage at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Lodge in Sokoto.
Governor Aliyu explained that the initiative is intended to ensure that district heads, who serve as the closest traditional authorities to the grassroots, have befitting accommodation to help them carry out their responsibilities effectively.
“We are not unaware of the dilapidated condition of many district heads’ palaces in the state. Very soon, we will commence their renovation, beginning with the palace of the District Head of Wurno,” the Governor said.
He also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to maintaining close collaboration with the Sultanate Council to tackle key challenges affecting rural communities, especially insecurity.
Governor Aliyu further reiterated his determination to continue the infrastructural development and urban renewal programmes currently ongoing across the length and breadth of the state.
He assured residents of the state of his administration’s open-door policy, and encouraged them to freely provide suggestions and constructive advice that will help advance the state.
The Governor also appreciated the people of the state for their continued support and cooperation.
Earlier in his remarks, the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, praised Governor Ahmed Aliyu for implementing several people-oriented projects across the state.
He assured the Governor of the Sultanate Council’s firm support for his administration’s transformative programmes, including infrastructural development, feeding initiatives, and empowerment schemes.
“We are very proud of our Governor, and we are 100 percent in support of what he is doing for the state,” the Sultan said.
“No amount of mischief can separate us. People should always fear God in whatever they say or post on social media,” he warned.
The Sultan further disclosed that the Sultanate Council would soon convene a meeting with district heads to explore ways of complementing the state government’s efforts in tackling security challenges.
He also appealed for the support and cooperation of all stakeholders in assisting the state government to realise its vision of a better Sokoto State.
