The President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, Nigerian business mogul, Aliko Dangote and several eminent traditional rulers on Monday converged on Ile-Ife, Osun State, for the installation of President Mahama as the Aare Atayeto Oodua.

The colourful ceremony attracted high-profile dignitaries from across Africa, including the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero; the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Clement Haastrup; the Olofa of Offa, Oba Mufutau Oloyede Esuwoye; and other respected monarchs and industry leaders.

Also in attendance was the former President of Botswana, Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi, alongside traditional rulers from Ghana and invited guests from diverse sectors.

The installation ceremony, held at the palace square in Ile-Ife, was marked by elaborate cultural displays and heightened security, reflecting the prominence of the attendees.

President Mahama made a grand entrance at about 1:30 pm, arriving in a royal chariot to the admiration of guests and spectators.

Speaking at the event, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, described President Mahama as a visionary reformer, commending his leadership qualities and notable contributions to governance and democratic development across Africa.
