Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has asserted that the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) is “dead” and claimed that its leader, Rabiu Kwankwaso, is likely to rejoin the ruling party soon.

During a courtesy visit by the Tinubu Support Group to the APC national secretariat in Abuja on Tuesday, Ganduje expressed confidence that Kwankwaso, the former Governor of Kano State and current leader of NNPP, would soon be returning to APC.

He noted that the APC is open to welcoming Kwankwaso back into the fold.

“We have been receiving prominent politicians and lawmakers from all over the country. We are ready to welcome anyone who wants to return to the party,” Ganduje said.

Addressing the fate of the NNPP, Ganduje remarked, “The NNPP is dead. And it will soon be buried very, very soon. I’m hoping that where we will put the dead body, the coffin has already been constructed. What remains now is to dig the grave. And already they are digging the grave very, very soon.”

He further emphasized that even though Kwankwaso has faced significant losses within the NNPP, he would be welcomed back into the APC.

“Even like that, the so-called NNPP national leader, he too, he says after losing everyone, he wants to come back to us, we will welcome him, because he’s coming back home,” Ganduje added.

Ganduje also weighed in on the opposition, predicting that the coalition against President Tinubu’s leadership, particularly in preparation for the 2027 elections, will soon collapse, with its members eventually rejoining the APC.

The APC leader’s comments come amidst political shifts and speculation about the future of various political players ahead of the next general elections in Nigeria.
