The Federal Government has announced Wednesday, October 1, as a public holiday to mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary.

The Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who issued the announcement on behalf of the Federal Government, congratulated Nigerians at home and abroad on this milestone celebration.

According to a statement released by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, Tunji-Ojo urged citizens to uphold the spirit of patriotism, unity and resilience that have kept the nation together since independence in 1960.

He further appealed to Nigerians to continue supporting the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu, which focuses on national renewal, economic growth and shared prosperity.

The minister expressed optimism that with the collective commitment of all Nigerians, the country will keep advancing in peace, progress and development.

He extended warm wishes to all Nigerians for a joyful and memorable 2025 Independence Day celebration.
