The Bauchi State Police Command has taken into custody three alleged kidnappers after preventing a kidnapping attempt in Alkaleri Local Government Area and its surroundings.

This was contained in a statement on Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Wakil.

Wakil explained that the operation was part of ongoing strategies to confront insecurity in the state.

He said the command acted swiftly to a distress report received on September 28, 2025, from Maso Kano village in Jada Pali district, regarding an armed attack by suspected kidnappers armed with AK-47 rifles.

“The abducted individuals were Hambali Alh. Sa’adu, aged 50, and Jari Alh. Sa’adu, aged 35,” Wakil stated.

He noted that a joint squad of police personnel and special hunters immediately responded and exchanged gunfire with the attackers, compelling them to abandon their captives and escape.

“The victims were rescued unharmed, and efforts to track down the perpetrators commenced immediately,” he added.

Wakil further disclosed that between September 29 and 30, investigators arrested three suspects connected to kidnapping incidents in Alkaleri and Kirfi LGAs.

Those arrested were identified as Adamu Ahmadu (28), Bello Alhaji Musa (18), and Adamu Alhaji Musa (29).

He said the suspects, all from Shalhori village near Kirfi, admitted to the crime and confessed that they collaborated with three other accomplices still at large to carry out the abduction for ransom.

“The command is actively pursuing the remaining suspects to ensure they are brought to justice,” Wakil said.

Wakil added that Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, applauded the officers for their courage and professionalism, directing that the case be forwarded to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Bauchi, for discreet inquiry and prosecution of all culprits involved.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, the Anambra State Police Command rescued a kidnapped victim along the Oba/Ojoto axis in Idemili South Local Government Area, seven hours after he was abducted by gunmen.

Reports indicate that the victim was seized by armed criminals at Umuru Village, Nnobi, who later demanded a ransom of ₦10,000,000.
