The funeral of elder statesman and renowned businessman, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, has been moved to Tuesday following a delay in transporting his remains to Saudi Arabia, where he wished to be buried.
Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, confirmed the development, stating that the Saudi Arabian government has specific procedures for accepting bodies for burial, and the necessary paperwork is still being finalized.
“The body is still in the United Arab Emirates. Once the documentation process between Saudi authorities and the deceased’s family is complete, the body will be flown to Medina,” Idris told the BBC.
Sources revealed that Dantata had expressly requested to be buried in the Islamic holy city of Medina.
The Saudi government granted approval after his relatives filed a formal request.
Delegates from both the Nigerian federal government and the Kano State Government departed for Saudi Arabia early Monday in preparation for the burial ceremony, now scheduled to hold on Tuesday.
