L-R: Prolific footballer, Ahmed Musa and Kano Gov, Abba Kabir Yusuf

The Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved a new management board for Kano Pillars Football Club, aimed at boosting the club’s competitiveness in the forthcoming Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

The announcement was made through a statement by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Friday, July 4, 2025.

The fresh appointments follow the expiration of the one-year mandate earlier granted to the previous board, which successfully guided the team to a 9th-place finish on the NPFL table.

After consultations with key football stakeholders, the state government resolved to retain most board members for continuity while introducing strategic changes.

Leading the newly reconstituted board is Ali Muhammad Umar (Nayara) as Chairman. Other members include Salisu Mohammed Kosawa, Yusuf Danladi Andy Cole, Idris Malikawa Garu, Nasiru Bello, Muhammad Ibrahim (Hassan West), Abdulkarim Audi Chara, Muhammad Danjuma Gwarzo, Mustapha Usman Darma, Umar Dankura, Ahmad Musbahu, Gambo Salisu Shuaibu Kura, Rabiu Abdullahi, Aminu Ma’alesh, and Safiyanu Abdu.

Also appointed are Abubakar Isah Dandago Yamalash as Media Director I and Ismail Abba Tangalash as Media Director II.

In a major highlight, the board proposed and secured approval for the appointment of celebrated Nigerian footballer Ahmed Musa, OON, MON, as the new General Manager of the club.

The state government said his international experience, leadership qualities, and deep ties with the team will play a pivotal role in revitalizing Kano Pillars’ performance.

The government expressed optimism that the refreshed leadership structure will build on existing progress and drive the club towards greater success in the new season.
