The Zamfara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the Presidency of targeting former President Goodluck Jonathan in an attempt to divert public attention from the failures of the Bola Tinubu administration.
In a statement issued in Gusau, the state chairman of the PDP, Hon. Jamilu Jibo Magayaki, said the Presidency’s recent criticism of Jonathan reflected anxiety over the growing influence of the opposition ahead of the 2027 elections.
Magayaki argued that Nigerians still associate Jonathan’s tenure with peace, democracy, and relative economic stability, contrasting it with the current situation of hardship, insecurity, inflation, and economic decline under the present government.
He added that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) appeared unsettled by speculations about Jonathan’s possible return, noting that the constant references to the former president highlighted the government’s inability to defend its own record after more than two years in power.
The Zamfara PDP chairman expressed confidence that Nigerians would entrust power back to the PDP in 2027.
