The Zamfara State Police Command has announced the commencement of a nationwide enforcement of the Tinted Glass Permit (TGP) regulation beginning today.
Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba, said the exercise is in line with the Motor Vehicles (Prohibition of Tinted Glass) Act, 2004, which seeks to curb criminal activities and strengthen public safety.
“The grace period previously granted for motorists to obtain or renew their permits has now expired. All vehicles with tinted glass must present valid and verifiable documents when requested by enforcement officers,” Maikaba told reporters in Gusau, the state capital.

Police spokesperson, ASP Yazid Abubakar, added in a statement that enforcement teams will operate across Zamfara, Niger, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
“Defaulters risk vehicle impoundment and possible legal prosecution. Motorists are strongly advised to abide by the law,” the statement said.
The command urged residents to cooperate with security operatives, stressing that compliance is both a legal obligation and a collective responsibility for public safety.
