US President Donald Trump says he will review a new peace proposal from Iran but is not confident it will be accepted.

Talks between the two countries have remained stalled since a ceasefire began on April 8, following a failed round of negotiations in Pakistan aimed at ending the conflict.

Iran reportedly sent a 14-point proposal through Pakistan, including plans to stop fighting and introduce a new system for managing the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump said, “I will soon be reviewing the plan that Iran has just sent to us, but can’t imagine that it would be acceptable…”

He also warned of possible military action, saying, “If they misbehave, if they do something bad… it’s a possibility that could happen, certainly.”

An Iranian military official, Mohammad Jafar Asadi, said “a renewed conflict between Iran and the United States is likely,” accusing the US of not keeping agreements.

Meanwhile, Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said “the ball is in the United States’ court,” adding that Iran is “prepared for both paths.”
