President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is currently holding a meeting with Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The meeting is taking place in the president’s office within the villa on Monday.

Governor Yusuf arrived at the Presidential Villa at about 4:10 p.m., wearing a white agbada and a red cap.

The meeting comes amid rising political speculation over the governor’s possible defection from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The development has dominated political conversations in Kano State and at the national level for weeks.

According to reports, talks between the governor and the APC leadership have allegedly stalled over whether he would be offered an automatic ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The prolonged defection discussions have triggered visible discontent between supporters of the governor and loyalists of his political godfather, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

The internal rift has further intensified political tension within the NNPP structure in Kano.

Although no official statement has been released by either party, the meeting with President Tinubu is widely believed to be linked to the governor’s defection plan.

Both the Presidency and the Kano State Government are yet to reveal details of the discussion.
