Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, has donated N20 million to victims of the recent flooding that ravaged parts of Niger State.

Obi made the donation during a condolence visit to Minna on Monday, June 2, where he was received by Deputy Governor Yakubu Garba, who stood in for Governor Umar Bago.

The disaster, which occurred in Mokwa Local Government Area, claimed over 200 lives, left hundreds missing, and destroyed properties worth millions of Naira.

Authorities fear that many of the missing may not be found alive as rescue efforts continue to dwindle.

The deputy governor, who received the donation on behalf of the state, praised Obi for his empathy and timely gesture.

He said the support would go a long way in helping those displaced and struggling to recover from the tragedy.
