The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Kano State has arraigned Suleiman Aminu, infamously known as “Danwawu”, before the Federal High Court 1 in Kano, over his alleged involvement in high-level drug trafficking.

Justice M.S. Shu’aibu presided over the session, marking a crucial development in the state’s ongoing fight against narcotics.

According to NDLEA spokesperson, Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari, Danwawu had long operated an illicit drug network that fueled substance abuse and criminality in Kano and neighbouring states.

He was arrested in a sting operation led by the Kano State Police Command at his residence and was handed over to the NDLEA for further investigation.

“Following his transfer, a second operation led to the discovery of more illegal substances,” the NDLEA said in its statement.

“His arraignment is a major win in our sustained crackdown on narcotics.”

NDLEA urges citizens to join war on drugs

The court has ordered Danwawu’s remand at a correctional facility pending the next hearing date, while the NDLEA reiterated its call for public cooperation in the battle against drugs.

“We call on communities to stay alert and report suspicious activities,” the agency said. “Together, we can build a drug-free Nigeria.”

NDLEA officials emphasized that public vigilance remains vital to dismantling criminal drug syndicates and protecting the youth from addiction and crime.
