The Kano State Government has refuted circulating claims suggesting an impending security breakdown in the state, stressing that Kano remains peaceful, orderly and fully secured.
This reassurance came after a Sunday meeting of the State Security Council, which had all service chiefs in attendance, during which Governor Abba Yusuf received an extensive update on ongoing security activities across the state.
In a statement released on Monday by the Director-General, Media and Publicity, Sunusi Dawakin-Tofa, the administration noted that no credible intelligence points to any looming threat to public safety.
“There is no valid or actionable information pointing to any significant security risk in Kano,” the statement said, describing the viral reports as misleading, exaggerated and deliberately crafted to cause fear.
The government raised concern over what it identified as a trend of fabricated security warnings, urging those responsible to stop immediately or risk prosecution.
The statement further explained that the government has deepened cooperation with security bodies and local networks, while surveillance has been heightened across all local government areas.
“Security formations have been briefed, strategically deployed and are working round the clock to neutralise any potential breach,” Dawakin-Tofa added, emphasising that every part of Kano remains closely monitored.
Residents were advised to stay calm, continue with their normal routines and refrain from sharing unverified information online.
The statement also noted that the administration is boosting intelligence collection, strengthening inter-agency coordination and adopting improved security tools to protect the state.
“The government remains fully committed to protecting lives and property. Kano will not succumb to fear, misinformation or attempts to destabilise its peace,” it said.
