Kebbi state governor, Nasir Idris, has approved the appointment of the Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Sama’ila Muhammad Mera, CON, as the Amirul Hajj for the state’s 2025 Hajj operations.
This decision is part of the state government’s preparations aimed at ensuring a smooth, well-organized, and successful pilgrimage for Kebbi State pilgrims both within Nigeria and in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The announcement was made in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Yakubu Bala Tafida, dated 14th April 2025 and shared with journalists in Birnin Kebbi.
In the same vein, the governor approved the composition of the official state delegation for the 2025 Hajj. The delegation includes members of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, senior government officials, traditional leaders, and other key stakeholders from across the state.
Among those appointed are Hon. Muhammad Abubakar Lolo and Hon. Abdullahi Danjumma from the House of Assembly, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Barr. Attahiru Maccido, and the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Dr. Halima Muhammad Bande. Also on the list are the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya Halima Hassan, as well as district heads including Alhaji Nasiru Jafaru Abdullahi of Shanga, Alhaji Haruna Ilyasu Bashar of Raha, and Alhaji Muktar Musa Wasagu of Wasagu.
Other members of the delegation include the District Head of Ambursa, Alhaji Isah Haruna Rasheed; the State Commissioner of Police, C.P. Bello Isah; Chairman of the State Emergency Management Agency, Hon. Mohammed Bello Yakubu; Danjumma Illo Yauri; Chairman of APC Augie Local Government, Alhaji Bashir Isah Mera; Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Animal Health, Hajiya Ramatu Usman; and Sahabi Boyi, a Permanent Secretary who will serve as secretary of the Hajj delegation.
The delegation is tasked with overseeing the smooth execution of the Hajj exercise, ensuring coordination between the Pilgrims Welfare Agency (PWA), the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), and the approved airline operators. It will also provide advisory support to the PWA and work to uphold the welfare of pilgrims throughout the operation.
