The family of former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, has confirmed the kidnapping of his younger sister, Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, alongside her twin sons in Ibadan.

In a statement released by the family on Wednesday, Mrs. John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin boys, Peter and Paul, were reportedly abducted by armed men around 7:30 a.m. while she was taking them to school.

The family stated that the incident was promptly reported to the appropriate security and law enforcement authorities, who have since launched investigations and rescue operations.

Mrs. John-Paul, 43, is the youngest among the five children of Mrs. Olufunmilayo Aduke Adegoke Adelabu. The family revealed that she recently retired after working with the Central Bank of Nigeria and First Bank Pension Custodian and had moved to Ibadan with her children as she prepared to reunite with her husband in the United States.

The statement noted that security agencies had immediately mobilised and were making efforts to ensure the safe rescue of the victims while tracking down those behind the abduction.

Chief Adelabu and other members of the family expressed serious concern over the development but said they remained optimistic about the ability of security personnel to secure the victims’ safe return.

The family urged members of the public to stay calm, avoid speculation, and desist from sharing unverified information that could jeopardise ongoing security efforts.

They further appealed to anyone with credible information that could aid investigators to provide such details through the appropriate channels.

The family assured that it would continue to work closely with security agencies and said additional updates would be communicated as events unfold.
