The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the safe recovery of Chief Adebayo Adelabu’s sister, Mrs. Busayo Adelabu-John Paul, alongside her two children.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the successful operation in a brief statement issued to journalists on Saturday night.
Mrs. Adelabu-John Paul, who is the younger sister of the former Minister of Power, and her twin sons were abducted in the early hours of June 3 in Ibadan while she was taking the children to school.
The assailants reportedly intercepted her vehicle around the Elewura area of Challenge in Ibadan before whisking her and the twins away.
The incident generated widespread concern within the family and across political circles in Oyo State due to Chief Adelabu’s status as a former minister and a leading APC governorship aspirant.
Reacting to the development, Mr Femi Awogboro, media aide to Chief Adelabu, appreciated all those who showed concern and supported efforts that led to the victims’ safe return.
He also commended the Oyo State Government, security operatives, media organisations, and friends for their support throughout the difficult period.
Awogboro disclosed that Mrs. Adelabu-John Paul and the 12-year-old twins, Peter and Paul, were not harmed and have since reunited with their family.
