The Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, has announced preparations for the upcoming Sallah Durbar celebrations in Kano.
The traditional event, which is held during the Muslim festivals of Eid al‑Fitr and Eid al‑Adha, is one of the most important cultural celebrations in northern Nigeria.
It usually features colourful horse-riding processions, traditional music, and the gathering of district heads and palace officials.
According to reports, the Emir has formally notified security agencies about the planned activities in order to ensure adequate security arrangements before, during, and after the festivities.
Authorities say the Durbar celebration attracts thousands of residents, tourists, and dignitaries from across Nigeria and beyond, making security coordination an important part of the preparations.
The Kano Durbar is widely regarded as a symbol of the rich cultural heritage of the ancient city and remains one of the most anticipated events during the Sallah celebrations.
