Sokoto state Governor, Ahmed Aliyu

The Sokoto state government has distributed books to five tertiary institutions.

Institutions that benefitted are; Sokoto State University, Shehu Shagari University of Education, Shehu Shagari College of Education, Umaru Ali Shinkafi Polytechnic, and the State College of Basic and Remedial studies.

The books written in Hausa language were distributed to enhance the quality of education and provide students of schools and other researchers with necessary resources.

The State Commissioner of Higher Education, Professor Isah Muhammad Maishanu while distributing the books said the state government recognized the importance of education in shaping the future of youths.

Professor Maishanu explained that, these textbooks would go a long way in supporting students’ academic pursuits as they are written in the local language.

He added that the administration of Dr Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto is committed to ensuring it’s institutions provide quality education that meets national standards.

In his remarks shortly after receiving the books, on behalf of his colleagues, the Vice Chancellor of the Shehu Shagari University of Education Professor Malami Umar Tambuwal, appreciated the state government’s efforts.

Professor Malami emphasized that, the books would benefit their students significantly, and assured of continued collaboration to improve the quality of education in Sokoto State.

Professor Aliyu Muhammad Bunza of Usmanu Danfodiyo University is the author of the books.

Earlier in a welcome address, Director Quality Assurance, state Ministry of Higher Education, Malami Shu’aibu said the variety of textbooks were purchased by the state government through the ministry, saying that more are underway.
