A Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday ordered that Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), be removed from the courtroom following what the judge described as “unruly” behaviour.

Justice James Omotosho dismissed three new motions filed by Kanu, noting that they were introduced after the matter had already been adjourned for judgment.

He ruled that the applications were without merit and would not delay the court’s decision.

Judge criticises defendant’s conduct

Justice Omotosho further held that, due to Kanu’s “unruly and violent conduct,” the main judgment could legally be delivered in his absence.

Trouble started when the judge prepared to announce the ruling earlier scheduled for Thursday.

Kanu abruptly objected, insisting that the court could not proceed because he had not yet filed his final written address.

Rising tension as judgment proceeds

Raising his voice, Kanu accused the judge of bias and claimed the court lacked proper understanding of the law.

His escalating tone and accusations prompted the judge to order his removal from the courtroom.

Following the ejection, Justice Omotosho proceeded to deliver the judgment as planned.
