The Borno State Hajj Commission has convened a crucial meeting to deliberate on refund issues concerning pilgrims who participated in the 2022, 2023, and 2024 Hajj exercises.
Chairman of the Commission, Prof. Yakubu Yunusa Musa on Monday, assured that all pilgrims entitled to refunds during the period under review will be duly considered.
He emphasized that no eligible pilgrim will be left behind in the refund process.
The Commission disclosed that reconciliation of accounts for the three Hajj operations has already begun to determine accurate refund amounts.
A special committee has been set up to oversee the exercise, with priority placed on capturing every qualified pilgrim.
The Commission further revealed that a verification process will be carried out to authenticate payment receipts, passport data pages, and bank account details of pilgrims.
Hajj commission establishes help desk
To make the process easier, a dedicated help desk will be established at the Commission’s headquarters in Maiduguri to respond to inquiries and guide pilgrims.
The Commission appealed for patience and cooperation from affected pilgrims, stressing that Governor Babagana Umara Zulum’s administration is committed to transparency and the protection of pilgrims’ interests.
Executive Secretary, permanent members, commissioners, directors, management staff, and local government fare collectors of the Commission commended the proactive steps taken by the Chairman.
They noted that effective communication and accountability would go a long way in restoring public confidence among pilgrims and their families.
