A 400-level student of the Federal University Birnin Kebbi (FUBK), Augustine Madubiya, who was abducted by unknown gunmen in the early hours of Tuesday, has been successfully rescued.
The Director of Security at the Cabinet Office, Abdulrahman Zagga, confirmed the development in Birnin Kebbi.
According to a statement from Zagga, the rescue was carried out following clear directives from Governor Nasir Idris, who ordered all security agencies in the state to work together and act swiftly to ensure the safe recovery of the student.
“I am happy to inform you that the FUBK student abducted yesterday has been successfully rescued through a combined operation by security operatives,” Zagga said. “The Governor gave a firm directive that security agencies must act immediately to rescue the student alive and unharmed.”
Zagga also stated that the student is in stable condition and is currently undergoing a routine medical check-up. He thanked the university authorities, the local community, and the student’s family for their patience, support, and prayers during the incident.
He further commended Governor Nasir Idris for his commitment to deploying all necessary security resources to ensure the student’s release and praised the efforts of the security operatives who took part in the operation.
