Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has applauded the Federal Government for putting on hold the planned increase in the National Examinations Council examination fees.

The governor’s position was disclosed in a statement released on Wednesday in Kano by his Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad.

According to Muhammad, Yusuf gave the commendation while presenting appointment letters to 4,900 newly recruited teachers for basic and secondary schools, alongside the engagement of 3,688 Abba Gida-Gida BESDA Cohort V facilitators.

Yusuf said the Federal Government’s decision was a well-considered intervention that would ease the financial pressure on millions of Nigerian households while expanding access to quality education.

The governor also praised President Bola Tinubu’s administration for introducing several reforms designed to enhance access to quality education through the Renewed Hope Agenda.

He equally lauded the Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, and the Universal Basic Education Commission for their dedication to advancing inclusive and affordable education across the country.

He noted that the prompt release of UBEC counterpart funds had supported the construction and renovation of schools, in addition to the execution of other basic education projects across Kano State.

Yusuf reaffirmed the state government’s resolve to deepen collaboration with the ministry, UBEC, NECO and other relevant agencies to invest in education and achieve better learning outcomes.
