Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum on Monday has visited Borno scholarship students studying in India to strengthen the government’s support for their academic journey.

The visit began at Sharda University in Noida, where the governor met beneficiaries of the state’s scholarship scheme.

The problem identified during the visit was the financial pressure faced by the students abroad.

The pressure has affected their stability and learning conditions.

Governor Zulum responded by giving N500,000 to each student to ease their financial burden.

He told the students that the Borno State Government remains committed to their education and future.

“I am here today for one simple reason, to remind you that Borno state government believes in you and is investing in your future,” Zulum said.

He said the students are central to the rebuilding and progress of the state.

“You are critical to the progress and rebuilding of our state, the knowledge and skills you are acquiring here will be beneficial to this and future generations,” he said.

“Remain focused, be disciplined, and shun all distractions. We are counting on you to return home and become the leaders and innovators who will drive our state forward,” he added.

Some of the students expressed gratitude after receiving the financial support.

“It shows he doesn’t just make promises from afar; he comes to see us and understand our situation,” one student said.

“This motivates us to work harder and make Borno proud.”

After the visit to Noida, the governor traveled to Lucknow and gave the same financial support to Borno students at Integral University.

He also directed that scholarship beneficiaries in Malaysia receive the same assistance.
