The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has taken down six drug networks, leading to the recovery of large quantities of illegal substances and the arrest of nine major suspects across the country.
On November 18, 2025, NDLEA personnel detained two members of a trafficking group in Onitsha, Anambra State, as they tried to pick up a consignment containing 5.40 kilogrammes of methamphetamine, 10.70 kilogrammes of cannabis, and other narcotics hidden inside pressure machine cylinders imported from South Africa.
According to the agency’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, a 30-year-old dealer in electrical appliances, Ebulue Lotanwa Uzochukwu, arrived first to receive the consignment and was apprehended, while 51-year-old Christopher Michael Ndibuisi was detained shortly after his arrival.
In another operation on November 20, 2025, at the Lagos airport, operatives intercepted a cargo that concealed 2.30 kilogrammes of cocaine among auto parts, resulting in the arrest of freight handler, Ameh Solomon, and an auto parts trader, Nwafor Tochukwu Boniface.
Meanwhile, in Kogi State on November 17, 2025, NDLEA officers confiscated 4,700 kilogrammes of skunk along with three suspects, and a related operation in Plateau State led to the capture of kingpin Marcus Danladi Dan Mangu.
Also, in Cross River State, a couple, Onun Okoi Okpotum, 55, and Itam Okoi Okpotum, 52, were taken into custody on November 19 after agents found 4,706 kilogrammes of cannabis stored in their warehouse.
In Edo State, two women, Praise Nwogu, 19, and Ebong Emem Oghosa, 25, were detained for producing and distributing drug-infused brownies, while Shedrack Aminu was nabbed with 59 kilogrammes of skunk in Akoko-Edo.
Other significant arrests included Chinoso Emmanuel Monday, found with large quantities of assorted drugs and ammunition in Enugu, and Umar Adamu in Kebbi State, who was caught with more than 12,500 opioid pills.
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the NDLEA, Brig.-Gen. Mohamed Marwa (rtd), praised the personnel involved in the operations, stressing the agency’s ongoing resolve to tackle drug abuse and trafficking nationwide.
