Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to building a transparent and investor-friendly electricity market anchored on renewable energy and sustainable development.

The governor stated this while presiding over the Renewable Energy Roundtable organized by the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) in collaboration with the Kaduna State Government.

The event was held under the theme: “From Policy to Impact: Sustaining the New Kaduna State Electricity Market for Access, Investment & Industrial Growth.”

According to Governor Sani, the roundtable brought together thought leaders and stakeholders from government, development institutions, and the private sector to chart strategies for expanding energy access, deepening investment, and driving industrial growth through renewable solutions.

“We embarked on a deliberate and strategic dialogue to accelerate the expansion of energy access, deepen investment prospects, and catalyze industrial growth through innovative and sustainable renewable energy solutions,” he said.

Kaduna, REA sign MoU on decentralized solar power

A major highlight of the meeting was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Kaduna State Government and the Rural Electrification Agency to deploy decentralized solar power systems across underserved and unserved communities in the state.

Governor Sani explained that the partnership would deliver tailored electrification strategies and promote off-grid innovation as part of Kaduna’s long-term industrial and social development agenda.

“This MoU reaffirms our unwavering commitment to establishing an electricity market underpinned by policy clarity, transparency, and sustainability,” the governor added.

Governor Sani commended the Managing Director of REA, Mr. Abba Abubakar Aliyu, and his team for their “incisive and data-driven presentations”, as well as their recognition of Kaduna State’s forward-looking energy transition policies.

He noted that private sector participants expressed strong interest in collaborating with the state government, describing it as a testament to growing investor confidence in Kaduna’s governance and development strategies.

Highlighting Kaduna’s vast renewable potential, Governor Sani said the state is endowed with abundant solar, biomass, and hydro resources, which can power industries, uplift communities, and foster inclusive growth.
