The Nigerian military, in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force, Hybrid Forces, and local vigilantes, has repelled a Boko Haram attack in Ngom, Mafa Local Government Area of Borno State.
According to a report, the terrorists, numbering about eight, launched the attack around 10:00 a.m. on Friday along Limanti, near Ngom in the Mafa axis.
‘They appeared on eight motorcycles carrying sophisticated weapons and shooting sporadically. We resisted and responded. We chased them back to Gazuwa where they usually coordinated their attacks,’ the source said.
However, the source added that during their retreat, the terrorists intercepted a private car and abducted four civilians.
This incident occurred the same day Boko Haram fighters ambushed a convoy of the Nigerian Army’s commanding officer who had just concluded a clearance operation in the Gazuwa axis.
The ambush led to the death of the officer, six soldiers, two CJTF members, and two vigilantes.
