The Kano State Government says it is working on different plans to make decent and affordable housing more accessible to the public.
The Commissioner for Housing Development, Arc. Ibrahim Yakubu Adamu, made this known at the Renewed Hope Housing PPP Summit 2.0 held at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Conference Centre, Abuja.
In a statement signed by Adamu Abdullahi, Director of Public Enlightenment, on Tuesday, he said the government is focused on improving housing delivery through simple and open processes that will benefit more applicants.
According to him, Kano State is using Public-Private Partnership (PPP) to make housing easier and more accessible for citizens. He also commended the Federal Government’s efforts to improve welfare and address Nigeria’s housing deficit.
Speaking on the theme of the summit, “From Policy To Projects Financing and Delivering Housing at Scale Through PPPs,” the Commissioner said it aligns with what Kano is currently doing. He added that the state has already received proposals from credible development partners and is reviewing them.
“Proposals are received, and it will also soon be appraised towards realizing their proposed housing idea for the benefit of our people,” the Commissioner stated.
He also revealed that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has approved the construction of 480 housing units under the Gida-Gida mega city project at Rijiyar Gwan-Gwan along Maiduguri Road. The project will include modern facilities designed for a functional urban community.
