In a bold step aimed at strengthening the education sector in Kano State, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has ordered the immediate recruitment of over 4,000 teaching staff who recently concluded the Better Education Service Delivery for All (BESDA) programme.
This development was announced in a press statement released on Monday, May 12, 2025, by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
Teachers to undergo test before permanent employment
Speaking during the official flag-off of instructional materials distribution in schools across the state, Governor Yusuf emphasized that all 4,000 teachers will be required to take an aptitude test.
Only candidates who pass the test will be granted permanent positions within the Kano State Civil Service.
“This is part of our effort to reward dedication and ensure quality education delivery. Only those who are qualified and capable will be absorbed into the system,” Governor Yusuf said.
Recruitment to be managed by Kano SUBEB
The recruitment process will be overseen by the Kano State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), as directed by the governor.
The move is part of the administration’s broader agenda to prioritize educational development through merit-based hiring and long-term staff retention.
