The National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Felix Morka, has stated that money paid for expression of interest and nomination forms for party offices is non-refundable.
Morka made this known on Friday while appearing on The Morning Show on Arise Television, explaining that aspirants should understand the conditions of the offices they pursue before submitting any payments.
According to him, the party assumes that applicants are aware of the eligibility requirements, including the correct constituencies linked to the offices they seek.
However, the APC spokesman admitted that there have been cases in the past when the party authorised refunds under special circumstances.
He added that although refunds are not the standard practice, affected persons may formally seek reimbursement, which the party would review and decide on individually later.
He said: “You know, normally, ordinarily, these payments for expression of interests and nomination forms are not refundable. I mean, there are fees paid in the process because, you know, the party assumes, and you are presumed to know what you’re applying for.
“So if you apply for a position that’s not in your district, you know that’s really on you.
“But you know, I’m aware in the history of our party that there’s been occasions where the party had to make refunds, you know, on just some special considerations to those who paid this money.
“So I don’t rule that out, if the individual affected or concerned would make a request for, you know, refund. I’m sure that will be given due consideration by the party.”
