Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Muhammed Matawalle, says the elimination of more than 8,000 terrorists and bandits, along with the arrest of 11,600 criminals and recovery of over 10,000 weapons in 2024 alone.
He said this proves that President Bola Tinubu is making decisive progress in the fight against insecurity.
Speaking in Abuja, Matawalle credited these achievements to strategic reforms initiated under Tinubu’s leadership, including the formation of the Multi-Agency Anti-Kidnap Fusion Cell (MAAKFC), which has enhanced intelligence sharing and inter-agency coordination in tackling kidnapping and violent crimes nationwide.
“These efforts are yielding real results. Nigerians can now begin to see a country on the path to peace and prosperity—and these gains could well form the foundation for Tinubu’s re-election in 2027,” he said.
Reforms in economy, agriculture and governance lauded
Matawalle also praised the administration’s economic reforms, highlighting the newly established Ministry of Livestock Development as a game-changer for northern agriculture and food security.
He pointed to recent drops in grain prices as evidence that the government’s policies are already easing the cost of living.
On infrastructure, he noted that road construction and transport improvements, particularly in northern Nigeria, are critical to sustaining development and connecting rural communities to economic opportunities.
The minister further expressed strong support for the push to grant local governments financial and administrative autonomy, calling it a bold step toward better governance and accountability at the grassroots.
He concluded by asserting that Tinubu’s current trajectory offers Nigerians a real chance at national renewal.
“With these reforms in motion, Tinubu’s return in 2027 is not just possible—it’s likely,” Matawalle said.
