The Executive Chairman of the Yobe State Independent Electoral Commission, Dr. Muhammad Mamman, has died.

Mamman passed away at the Yobe State Teaching Hospital after a brief illness, leaving behind 33 children and three wives.

Confirming the death, one of his sons, Amir Muhammad, said his father passed away after a brief illness.

“He leaves behind three wives, 33 children and grandchildren, we have really missed him.”

“He died at Yobe State Teaching Hospital, Damaturu and he will be buried today by 11: am,” he said.

He noted that the burial would take place today at the Central Masjid, within His Royal Highness Emir of Fika’s Palace in Potiskum, Yobe State, by 11am.

The late Mamman, a medical doctor by training, had previously served as Executive Secretary of the Yobe State Hospital Management Board during Governor Ibrahim Geidam’s administration.

He was appointed twice as Chairman of Yobe SIEC by Governor Mai Mala Buni and was serving his final tenure until his demise.

Also, Mamman had served as the Chief Medical Officer of the Fika Emirate before his elevation to the rank of Shamakin Fika.
