Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have repelled coordinated terrorist attacks and neutralized more than 18 insurgents during dawn operations in parts of the North East.

The operations were carried out by Sector 1 and Sector 2 troops between January 28 and 29.

According to the military, the actions were part of sustained efforts to deny terrorists freedom of movement and dismantle their strongholds.

In the early hours of January 28, troops of Sector 1 conducted a night-dawn surprise operation at Bula Dalo.

During the encounter, over 12 terrorists were neutralized, forcing the remaining fighters to flee.

Troops recovered four AK-47 rifles, one PKT anti-aircraft gun, one rocket-propelled gun, and one multiple grenade launcher.

In a separate operation at the Garno terrorist camp, Sector 1 troops neutralized six more terrorists.

The operation also led to the destruction of terrorist life-support structures and the recovery of a large cache of PKT anti-aircraft ammunition.

In a related development, troops of Sector 2 Operation HADIN KAI at Sabon Gari came under attack by ISWAP terrorists in the early hours of January 29, 2026.

The attack was supported by multiple armed drones, which briefly enabled the terrorists to breach part of the defensive position.

Troops, with reinforcement from nearby locations, repelled the assault and restored full control of the area.

The military said some personnel and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force lost their lives during the engagement.

An excavator and a lowbed vehicle were also damaged during the drone attack.

Exploitation of the area is ongoing as troops continue clearance operations to prevent further attacks.

The development was confirmed in a statement signed on Friday by Sani Uba, lieutenant colonel and media information officer, headquarters joint task force north east Operation HADIN KAI.
