President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed that no individual, no matter their social or political status, will be above the law under his administration.
Speaking on Monday at the joint workshop of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the National Judicial Institute (NJI) for Justices and Judges in Abuja, Tinubu said his government cannot be accused of shielding anyone from legal accountability because of political ties.
He emphasized that a corruption-free Nigeria was achievable if everyone played their part with integrity within their areas of influence. The President also called on the judiciary to stay committed, impartial, and incorruptible in the administration of justice.
He cautioned that societal decay often begins when those responsible for interpreting the law become compromised.
“The Federal Government under my watch will make sure that no one is above the law. We draw our moral distinction as a people from the judiciary, and we owe it the reverence and autonomy to remain the last sanctuary of our collective conscience.
“There is also a certain level of consternation over decisions of courts in serious corruption matters that engender feelings that society is being left with the wrong end of the stick,” he said.
