Seven people were killed in a fatal motor vehicle accident at Gaggaba Village in the Damagum area of Yobe State in the early hours of Thursday.
The accident occurred at about 1:20 a.m., according to the Yobe State Police Command.
The crash involved a DAF trailer with registration number DAL 963 YY and a Mitsubishi Canter with registration number XA 437 NNR.
Malam Abubakar, 35, from Maiduguri, Borno State, was driving the trailer from Lagos to Maiduguri, while Salisu Ibrahim from Dirra Village in Fune local government area was driving the Mitsubishi Canter.

The bodies of the deceased were evacuated to the General Hospital in Damagum for autopsy.
The vehicles involved in the accident were recovered, and investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances of the crash.
The Yobe State Police Command expressed sympathy with the families of the victims.
Emmanuel Ado, commissioner of police, said road traffic accidents claimed 120 lives across Yobe State in 2025, raising concern over the growing loss of lives on the roads.
He called for collective solutions and tasked sister security and road safety agencies to strengthen road surveillance and enforce traffic regulations across the state.
The police also urged motorists to obey speed limits and traffic laws to prevent avoidable accidents.
