As Nigeria celebrates its 65th Independence Anniversary, Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has urged citizens to embrace unity and resilience, while reaffirming his administration’s commitment to inclusive development in the State.

In his independence day message, the governor described Nigeria’s history as one of endurance, sacrifice and hope.

“Our founding fathers secured freedom through unity and faith. Their legacy challenges us to build a nation of peace, justice and opportunity,” he said.

Uba Sani announced that his administration has launched 85 road projects covering 785 kilometres, with nearly half completed.

He said the projects are easing travel, boosting trade, and improving farmers’ access to markets.

Kaduna, he noted, is reviving rural economies through reopened markets such as Birnin Gwari Livestock Market and Kidandan Market in Giwa. More than 500,000 hectares of abandoned farmland have also been reclaimed to strengthen food security.

Education and Healthcare

The governor revealed that 10,728 out-of-school children have returned to classrooms, while 535 schools shut due to insecurity have been reopened. Teacher training and digital learning tools are also being expanded.

On health, 255 Primary Health Care Centres have been upgraded, alongside three new vocational institutes designed to equip youths and women with skills for the modern economy.

Highlighting the state’s priority on agriculture, Sani said over 10% of the 2025 budget has been allocated to the sector — the highest in recent years — to empower smallholder farmers and strengthen the value chain.

Peace and Security

The governor stressed that lasting development depends on peace. He pointed to expanded community policing, dialogue initiatives, and victim support programmes aimed at rebuilding trust among diverse communities.

Governor Sani reaffirmed Kaduna’s alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, describing it as critical to restoring prosperity and strengthening democracy.

“Together, we are overcoming. Together, we are rising. With God’s guidance and our collective resolve, Nigeria’s future remains bright,” he said.
