The Assembly of Health Care Professionals of Katsina State has called off its seven-day warning strike after Governor Dikko Radda pledged to address the workers’ grievances.

The assembly’s chairman, Ibrahim-Balange, disclosed the suspension in a statement released in Katsina on Sunday.

The decision became effective at midnight on October 18 after a meeting between the association and Radda on October 16.

Balange explained that the suspension followed the state government’s agreement to resume discussions and review the Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS) and professional allowances.

He stated that the government had also agreed to constitute a Joint Technical Committee to address unresolved matters affecting health professionals.

According to the chairman, the review would include hazard, call duty and shift duty allowances, alongside other benefits provided under CONHESS.

Balange further disclosed that the government had pledged to resolve the CONHESS 10 skipping issue affecting eligible officers in accordance with the Scheme of Service.

He said the committee would work under clearly defined terms of reference and an established timeline for resolving the outstanding demands.

Following the suspension, the chairman instructed members to resume full clinical and administrative duties at health facilities across the state from October 18.

The association had declared the warning strike on October 14 over unresolved concerns regarding salary structure implementation and professional allowances.
