In a statement by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the proposed fiscal plan allocates an impressive 68 per cent to capital spending, totalling N934.6 billion, while recurrent spending stands at N433.4 billion at 32 per cent which according to reports, is one of the most significant capital-to-recurrent distributions in recent years.
Governor Yusuf stated that the distribution reflects his administration’s core development focus, with education receiving the largest share at N405.3 billion (30 per cent), followed by infrastructure at N346.2 billion (25 per cent) and health at N212.2 billion (16 per cent).
“These allocations demonstrate our unwavering determination to invest heavily in human capital development, safeguard the well-being of our people, and lay the physical foundation for sustainable growth,” the governor said.
He stressed that the economic and social sectors continue to shape the 2026 financial framework, with agriculture, security, commerce, water, environment, tourism, women’s and youth empowerment, and support for persons with special needs also gaining major funding.
Yusuf restated the administration’s previous promise to align government priorities with public expectations, emphasising that the fiscal proposal is “a bold but realistic roadmap” crafted to build a resilient and thriving Kano.
He appealed to the Assembly to ensure expeditious approval of the bill, noting that effective oversight and continued collaboration are vital to turning the budget into real projects and services for citizens.
