In commemoration of this year’s World Teachers’ Day, the Kaduna State Universal Basic Education Board (KADSUBEB) has hosted the maiden edition of its Best Teacher Award ceremony to honour outstanding educators across the state.

The event, held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, brought together education stakeholders, partners, and top government officials.

Governor Senator Uba Sani led dignitaries at the colourful ceremony, joined by the Executive Secretary of UBEC, Hajiya Aisha Garba, the Honourable Commissioner of Education, Prof. Abubakar Sani Sambo, and the Emir of Zazzau, His Royal Highness Alhaji Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli.

The gathering celebrated excellence and innovation in the basic education sector, with resounding tributes to teachers’ contributions to nation-building.

In his keynote remarks, the Executive Chairman of KADSUBEB, Alhaji Mubarak Mohammed, described the award as “a defining moment for education in Kaduna State.”

“Teachers are the engine that drives human potential and fuels societal change,” he said.
“This award is a reminder that while a teacher’s reward is often said to be in heaven, it must also begin here on earth. We are committed to recognising excellence and motivating professionalism.”

He explained that the selection process was transparent and rigorous, involving nominees from all 23 Local Government Areas, assessed through lesson observations, interviews, and evaluations conducted by an independent panel comprising TRCN, Kaduna State Quality Assurance Agency (KSSQAA), Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), and the Ministry of Education.

Teachers who emerged winners were celebrated as role models for the teaching profession, while other nominees were also acknowledged as champions of education whose work embodies dedication, leadership, and innovation in the classroom.
