The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has demanded immediate compensation for families of Fulani herders killed and injured in the September 28 attack in Tanda Village, Southern Kaduna.

Describing the incident as a calculated act of ethnic persecution and a national failure, the association said the government must take responsibility for its failure to prevent the attack despite prior warnings.

In a statement issued on Monday, the State Chairman of MACBAN, Alhaji Abdulhamid Musa Albarka, said compensation for the victims was “not just a moral obligation but a constitutional right.”

He accused authorities of neglecting intelligence that could have averted the killings.

“This was not a clash. It was a premeditated assault designed to destroy lives and livelihoods. Their cattle were scattered into the wilderness — their only means of survival taken from them in one day,” Albarka said.

MACBAN identified the victims as Suleiman Idris, who was killed, while Yusuf Abdullahi, Hamidu Dauda, and Ibrahim Hassan sustained severe and permanent injuries after being ambushed by armed militias in Tanda, Jema’a Local Government Area.

According to the group, the attack occurred after the herders challenged the illegal blockade of a long-established cattle route.

Albarka added that the government’s response will determine whether justice still exists for pastoral communities in Nigeria.

“The suffering of Suleiman Idris, Yusuf Abdullahi, Hamidu Dauda, and Ibrahim Hassan embodies ongoing injustice. Their families must be compensated. Anything less is a continuation of the same betrayal that led to the attack in the first place,” he said.
