The National Assembly has postponed its resumption of plenary sessions to Tuesday, October 7.
Both the Senate and the House of Representatives had earlier adjourned on July 24, fixing their return for September 23 to allow lawmakers observe their two-month annual recess.
However, in a brief statement on Tuesday morning, the Clerk to the National Assembly, Kamoru Ogunlana, announced the new date.
The statement, titled “Reschedule of Resumption Date of Plenary Activities in the National Assembly”, reads:
“I am directed by the presiding officers of both Chambers of the National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to inform all members of the National Assembly and the general public that the resumption date of the National Assembly earlier scheduled for Tuesday 23rd September 2025 is postponed to Tuesday 7th October 2025.
The statement stated that the committee activities will proceed as scheduled, while senators and members are expected to take note of the new date and adjust their plans. The rescheduling was noted with an apology for any inconvenience caused.
