In a major milestone for open and distance learning in Nigeria, the National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted Iconic Open University approval to launch new postgraduate and undergraduate programmes.
The new offerings—effective from the September 2025 academic session—include highly sought-after degrees such as the Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Public Administration (MPA).
This development positions Iconic as a key player in the delivery of advanced professional education, particularly through flexible, tech-driven learning models.
New programmes reflect workforce demand
According to the university, the newly approved programmes include the MBA, MPA, Master of International Relations and Diplomacy, and Master of Crime Management and Security Studies.
These degrees are tailored to meet Nigeria’s growing need for skilled professionals in governance, business, security, and international affairs.
At the undergraduate level, the NUC also approved the Bachelor of Education in Educational Management (B.Ed.) and the Bachelor of Environmental Health Science (B.EHS.), further broadening the institution’s academic reach into education and public health sectors.
Iconic’s expanding academic portfolio
With these additions, Iconic Open University now offers a comprehensive range of degree options, including already approved programmes such as: Master of Public Health (MPH), Master of Information Technology (MIT), Postgraduate Diplomas in Public Health, Information Technology, and other fields
Others are Bachelor’s degrees in Nursing Science, Public Health, Health Information Management, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Business, and Mass Communication.
The university also runs BA programmes in Arabic, English, and Islamic Studies, and B.Sc. degrees in International Relations, Criminology, and Security Studies.
