Alhaji Aminu Dantata, one of Nigeria’s most prominent businessmen and philanthropists, has died at the age of 94.
A family source confirmed to Daily Post that the elder statesman passed away in the early hours of Saturday, June 28, 2025, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, following a brief illness.
“He died at about 3am Nigerian time at a hospital in Abu Dhabi,” the source disclosed.
Funeral arrangements, according to the family, will be announced in due course.
Born on May 19, 1931, in Kano, Alhaji Dantata was a towering figure in Nigeria’s business history.
Over the decades, he played a significant role in shaping the country’s private sector through his industrial ventures and philanthropic efforts.
He was widely respected for his contributions to commerce, community development, and education.
Alhaji Aminu Dantata is survived by seven children and many grandchildren. Among them is Alhaji Tajuddeen Dantata, who has also made a mark in Nigeria’s business space.
