Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, on Tuesday handed over 63 patrol vehicles to security agencies and the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) operating in Maiduguri and nearby areas.

Out of the 63 vehicles, 30 were given to the 10 s9ectors of the CJTF, 16 to the Rapid Response and Anti-Social Vices units, 10 to paramilitary organizations, six to hunters, and one to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).

It was made known that the move is aimed at improving the mobility and response capacity of security operatives in combating armed gangs and other criminal activities across Maiduguri and its environs.

Since 2019, Zulum’s administration has distributed several vehicles to security agencies as part of efforts to strengthen the state’s security architecture and safeguard lives and property.

While presenting the vehicles, Governor Zulum reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting security forces with logistics and equipment.

“We are here in continuation of our efforts to support the security apparatus in Borno State with equipment and logistics needed for them to function effectively,” Zulum said.

He added, “I want to assure you that the government of Borno under my leadership will continue to support you with a view to achieving the noble objectives of ensuring the state is rid of insurgency.”

The governor also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the security agencies for their continued role in restoring peace in Borno.

“Let me also use this opportunity to extend my profound appreciation to the president and Commander-in-Chief of the Nigerian armed forces, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the service chiefs, theatre commander, sector commanders, and all officers and men of Operation Hadin Kai, and indeed all paramilitary organizations in Borno State, for the great works they’ve been doing in the state,” he said.
