The Yobe State Police Command has launched an investigation into a late-night attack on the residential quarters of a staff member of the State Specialist Hospital Potiskum.

The incident was reported to the police on November 26 after the hospital management submitted a complaint letter with reference number YSSH/GEN/169.

According to the report on Thursday, individuals entered the residence around 2:00 a.m. and stabbed the wife of the staff member in the abdomen with a sharp object.

The attackers also stole her mobile phone, an Infinix Smart 5, which contained the SIM card later used to send a threatening message to another female hospital staff.

The message stated that the senders had “finished with her Oga and two of them were next.”

Police officers from the Potiskum Division responded immediately, and the victim is receiving treatment at the hospital.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Ado, condemned the attack and urged residents to remain calm as the investigation continues.

He called on the public to support the police with credible information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects.

The Command assured residents of its commitment to protecting lives and property.

The police also issued a security advisory urging residents to secure their homes, report suspicious movements, and alert authorities if they receive threatening messages.

The public was encouraged to contact the nearest police division or call the Potiskum emergency line on 07036143593 for assistance.
