President Bola Tinubu has approved a major change in two federal agencies.
He redeployed Musa Adar as the new executive secretary of the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI).
Adar takes over from Ogbonnaya Orji, who has held the position since 2021.
Segun Imohiosen, spokesperson for the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, confirmed the changes in a statement on Tuesday.
Shagari takes over NIWA
Before the reshuffle, Adar was chairman of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA).
His former position has now been given to Mukhtar Shagari, a former minister of water resources.
According to the statement, both the redeployment and the new appointment take effect immediately.
Tinubu urges transparency and patriotism
President Tinubu encouraged the newly appointed officials to be patriotic and to use their experience to strengthen transparency, accountability, and effective service delivery in their agencies.
Earlier on October 19, Kayode Oladele, acting chairman of the Federal Character Commission, said the administration’s appointments follow constitutional principles of fairness and national balance.
He noted that the north currently occupies 56.3% of federal leadership roles, while the south holds 43.7%.
