Borno State Police Command, under Commissioner Naziru Abdulmajid, has distributed ₦20,137,770.34 to families of officers who lost their lives in active service.

The payout forms part of the Inspector General of Police Group Insurance and Welfare Scheme (IGP IWES), designed to offer financial assistance to next-of-kin and families of deceased personnel.

Police spokesperson ASP Nahum Daso disclosed on Sunday in Maiduguri that nine families statewide benefited from the scheme, underscoring the Nigeria Police Force’s dedication to the welfare of its personnel and their bereaved relatives.

Represented by his deputy, Ibrahim Sumaila, Commissioner Abdulmajid stressed that the welfare of officers and their dependents remains paramount.

He said the scheme reflects the IGP’s compassion, responsibility, and leadership in paying tribute to officers who laid down their lives for national peace and security.

Sumaila encouraged beneficiaries to apply the funds prudently toward education, healthcare, and overall well-being. On behalf of the families, Modu Ishaku conveyed appreciation to the IGP, assuring careful and responsible utilization of the released funds.
