Kaduna State Police Command has rescued a five-year-old boy, Abdulmumin, from an alleged trafficker attempting to move him out of the state.

Police spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, confirming that the victim was intercepted in the company of a woman identified as Khadija Ibrahim, now in custody as a prime suspect.

According to DSP Hassan, operatives acted swiftly after intelligence reports indicated a trafficking attempt.

The officers intercepted the suspect while she was allegedly trying to transport the boy from Zamfara State to the southern part of the country.

“Immediate action led to the safe rescue of the child and the arrest of the woman,” Hassan said.

The police spokesperson urged parents and guardians to remain alert to the movements and safety of their children, warning that traffickers often exploit lapses in vigilance.

“We are calling on parents to be more vigilant about the whereabouts of their children to prevent them from falling victim to traffickers,” Hassan cautioned.

The Kaduna Police Command assured residents that investigations into the case are ongoing. Hassan further pledged that the police will intensify operations to dismantle trafficking networks across the state.
