The Niger State Judicial Service Commission (NJSC) has confirmed the appointment of 100 new judicial staff, including 10 magistrates, to strengthen the state’s judicial workforce, following approval by Governor Mohammed Umar Bago.
Announcing the development in Minna, Chairman of the NJSC Sub-Committee on Information, Hon. Adamu Usman, said the recruitment was transparent and covered a range of roles.
The new appointments also included 10 Sharia Court judges, 30 legal research assistants, 20 programme analysts, 15 interpreters, and 15 executive officers.
Usman further disclosed that four staff members had been directed to vacate their positions after failing their promotion examinations three consecutive times.
“Four staff members, comprising of three from the High Court and one from the Sharia Court of Appeal have been instructed to disengage from their positions after failing their promotion examinations for three consecutive attempts.”
“This decision is in line with Order 8 Rule (4)(f) of the NJSC regulations established in 2025,” he stated.
In a separate matter, he revealed that the NJSC had set up a committee to investigate allegations of misconduct against Mohammed Shaba, accused of circulating a disparaging video about the Chief Judge and the judiciary.
According to him, a four-member sub-committee will conduct inquiries and ensure a fair hearing for the staff member.
Additionally, the NJSC has approved retirement notifications for 10 staff members and issued death certificates for two deceased employees from the High Court and the Sharia Court of Appeal.
