Mainstream Energy Solutions Limited, a leading private power-generating company, has pledged to support Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, in rehabilitating key infrastructure and preparing for its 45th Convocation scheduled for January 2026.
In a statement signed by the university’s Director of Public Affairs, Auwalu Umar, said the company will help rehabilitate internal roads, many built in the 1960s and now in poor condition.
“The institution’s nearly 30 kilometres of internal roads across its two campuses are currently in a state of near collapse”.
The statement added that the company will also repair toilets, improve water supply, and renovate the 1,000-seater Abdullahi Mahadi Conference Centre ahead of the convocation.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Adamu Ahmed described the gesture as part of a long-standing partnership with the company, which began in 2017.
“Mainstream Energy has always stood by us, especially when our energy cost rose to an unsustainable ₦370 million in May 2025,” Prof. Ahmed said.
He revealed that the company plans to replicate a Kainji Dam-model power plant at ABU’s Faculty of Engineering, calling it a game changer for practical training and research.
